Commonwealth Games: ‘Shining India’s’ Mismanagement By Crisis. Sai Baba Not Sighted

At the 11th hour, after India’s fiasco-ridden series of chaotic mismanagements, India’s Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh (a follower of Sathya Sai Baba), and emergency teams of officials are racing to save the 2010 Commonwealth Games. 

If India’s leadership had been ready to live within that country’s relative means, it is arguable that India could have staged a bold, imaginative and unique Games. Why did the leaders attempt to ape the West?  And it was not for the first time, either.  The huge and costly Bollywood-style splurge at 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, showed that ruling forces in India are bent on glitter rather than substance. On looking good, rather than in serving the Indian people at large. This is a country where 380 million Indians ‘live’ on under $1 per day, and another 400 million on less than $2. Some 350 million people cannot read or write. For a number of years, I lived in and have always dearly loved India and deplored, as vast numbers of Indians themselves do, her elitist, corrupt, nepotist and gerontocratic leaders, and her venal, robotic bureaucracy.

Go to virtually any online media site – where, from a huge cross-section of Indians, one sees extensive comment on what has been so acutely exposed in the present Games débâcle.  

Former devotee writers and other critics correctly point (amid his many other failed predictions) to Sathya Sai Baba’s inability to counteract – to all but the smallest degree – India’s problems. (See the glaringly revealing scan from Sai Baba’s close follower Dr John Hislop’s book ‘Conversations With Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba”, below). Despite the mass of contradictions and the vast corruptions in India, conscienceless attackers such as the Sathya Sai Baba man, Gerald Moreno of New Mexico, USA, allied with some of Sai Baba’s notable followers, who stay in the background, accuses these critics of “India bashing”.  Such cultic blindess in a populist spokesperson is but the public face of countless Sai Baba followers whose heads are deeply buried in the sands by the banks of the Chitravathi River. Whatever the extent of social service volunteer work that Sai Baba devotees undertake in their spare time, it is the smallest drop poured upon India’s ocean of social disfunction. Of Moreno’s unabating slanderous attacts on virtually each individual who speaks out, Robert Priddy – in his article Beatings, torture and killings by Police in India – writes:

“Moreno’ speaks of India on his original vishvarupa.com website in 2003 of India as follows:  “For the past 14 years I have travelled many times to India. I’m captivated by India. (Much to the bewilderment of friends and family)” and he has never made a single critical observation about the vast poverty, the general unconcern with the poor and suffering, the host of embezzling and self-serving politicians and mafias and the depths of depravity whereby children are sold into prostitution in the millions and tiny babies are maimed in horrendous ways to turn them into beggars. His only concern is to bash and harass in every possible way every dissident of his admired gurus, Sathya Sai Baba, convicted murderer and rapist Swami Premananda, Ammachi the heavy-duty hugging matron, the long-expired Ramana Maharshi and such others”.

What the former devotee and other critics point out has long been stated by many courageous and truthful Indian citizens down many decades. It may be hoped that these forces of decency and efficiency in India will be aided by the glaring world spotlight which has all too suddenly, because she is hosting the Commonwealth Games, swung on the many corrupt and befuddled Indian leaders.

There is no end to Sathya Sai Baba’s failed predictions. In his February 1 16, 2007 (so-called ‘divine discourse’, Sai baba said: 

“I intend to undertake a world tour, shortly.”  

But the reality is very different from the perspective of his devotees, who relegate all contrary evidence to a nether region of what is left of their logical minds. See:

The games were supposed to showcase India as an emerging power of international stature. Instead, they have become a national embarrassment. The day after the bridge collapse, a portion of false ceiling at the new weightlifting venue crumbled. 

Compounding concerns over the readiness of the games facilities are security fears, after the Sunday shooting of two tourists outside one of the city’s top attractions. Health conditions are also a concern, with reports of an outburst of dengue fever due to stagnant water puddles on unfinished construction sites.

India’s $10m ‘bribe’ to win Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games Association has decided to ban 11th-hour inducements as a consequence of the outrage over India’s tactics (Read more about the inducements at The Daily Telegraph).

The revelation comes as photos and video footage taken secretly inside the Games compound show just how squalid the athletes’ village is.  

Undercover reporters from The Australian and The Daily Telegraph reported seeing filthy toilets, widespread flooding and children defecating in the street.  

The images raise more questions about India’s ability to bring the Games facilities up to scratch before the opening ceremony on October 3.  

The India Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called an emergency meeting of his ministers last night to deal with the crisis and Commonwealth Games chief Mike Fennell was flying into Delhi early today to meet Mr Singh and Games officials.  

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit met national team leaders from 25 countries to discuss their concerns about the athletes’ village  

Australian team general manager Perry Crosswhite said the workforce of cleaners and maintenance staff had increased “ten-fold” in the village yesterday.  

“They have elevated their response and brought in people who have the power to make it happen,” Mr Crosswhite said.  

As well as an army of cleaners, bomb squad officers and dogs have been deployed outside the village as security forces took control, weeks after the original scheduled lockdown deadline.

Institutional Sex Corruption: Plight of Roman Catholic Church and Sathya Sai Organization

The Pope may kiss little children, but did he protect them? Certainly not.

In the face of far too powerful, worldwide exposure of endemic Roman Catholic Church corruption, Pope Benedict XVI has called for reconciliation. Only at this chronically late hour, and in response to dire and universal threat to his institution’s survival, does he begin to treat sexual abuse as a reportable crime, and make apologies, and require his officials to take meaningful actions against the sexual abuse that the world now knows is rampant in his Church, and profoundly and endlessly covered up by it.

It is the year 2010 and yet official communiques coming from the Vatican and other official sections of the Roman Catholic Church almost make it sound as though sexual abuse complaints involving priests all over the world were something new. There may be contrite tears now, and official cries for reconciliation, and even some prospect of redress for survivors. But where were these down the aching years of victims’ anguish?

The Sathya Sai Organization still has not come to this point. It too has lain low. It too has turned a hard heart of the cries of individuals and families whose lives have been shattered by appalling misconduct that eats like a canker in its midst.

In both the Church and the Sathya Sai Organization, there is the same constant mouthing of values such as truthfulness, right conduct, love for all, peace, and non-violence in thought, word and deed. There are the same blindness, callousness, attacks upon the integrity of those who, against enormous odds, speak out. And the same profound cover up.

THE Pope was said last night to be feeling pain over the extensive pedophile priest scandal in Belgium as the country’s top bishops appealed for abusers to come forward to help with a process of reconciliation.

“I think it will be old wine in new bags. The bishops have found for many, many years several techniques to gain time and to postpone their final judgment,” he said.

Walter Van Steenbrugge, a lawyer representing about 30 victims, said that the Church should be ready to pay compensation and leave cases to the justice authorities.

The commission, which was set up under Professor Peter Adriaenssens, had little co-operation from serving priests and was unable to finish its work.

Robert Priddy has just blogged on Pope Benedict. He writes:

“The Pope believes firmly in eternal hellfire, as he showed before he realised the damage this would do him. He later tried to tone down his ill-advised ‘eternal’ pronouncement, but it was really too late… we know what he really believes, because The Sunday Times (March 27, 2007) reported “The fires of hell are real and eternal, the Pope warns“: ’Hell is a place where sinners really do burn in an everlasting fire, and not just a religious symbol designed to galvanise the faithful, the Pope has said.’: “Hell “really exists and is eternal, even if nobody talks about it much any more”, he said.”

The damage-limitation exercise which followed later on was reported by the Catholic News Agency, as follows: ” In reply, the Pope called heaven, hell, and purgatory “fundamental themes that unfortunately appear rarely in our preaching,” journalist and church expert Sandro Magister reports. Pope Benedict speculated that the condemned might not be numerous, describing how thoroughly they would have to have destroyed themselves: “Perhaps there are not so many who have destroyed themselves so completely, who are irreparable forever, who no longer have any element upon which the love of God can rest, who no longer have the slightest capacity to love within themselves. A potent factor in successive waves of people leaving Sathya Sai Baba has been video footage exposing the fraudulence that is Sathya Sai Baba. Especially for those pressed for time, here are some decisive clips from the BBC’s ‘The Secret Swami’. Although the documentary was first aired in mid 2004, it has since been viewed in many countries worldwide.
 
”The Secret Swami’ has contributed to enormous damage done to the Sathya Sai Baba Organization, and the repute of its founder and those of his following who have – in some cases wittingly and in a great many cases all too unwittingly through being duped, covered up for him. Pastor Terry Jones, Sathya Sai Baba and 9/11 Twin Towers Considered

I point my readers to the Robert Priddy article cited below. This shows the degree of blindness and gross insensitivity of some of Sathya Sai Baba’s foremost leaders. Should any Sai Baba devotees pause to consider why there are so many indications of the Sathya Sai Organization founder’s failure to bring about his promised world’s most far-reaching spiritual revolution in history, they need look no further. Robert Priddy writes:

“Among those conscienceless people who try to make publicity for their religious beliefs and themselves out of this disaster are not only the fanatical pseudo-Christian book-burning Florida pastor Terry Jones, but also the followers of the Hindu Avatar Sathya Sai Baba, who have long tried cynically to capitalize on it to promote this Hindu cult teaching’s figurehead, the self-trumpeting Deity of all Deities Incarnate on Earth who is accused widely of sexual abuses and being an accomplice to murders. They have not been without some success in St. Louis, where the mayor announced that 9/11 is officially Sathya Sai Baba Day in St. Louis – see here!”

Commonsense people, irrespective of culture, class or creed, can straightway see – and be appalled by – the crass insensitivity, the implied elitism of a blessed elect whose skins are Sai Baba ‘saved’ to the exclusion of most non-devotees, and the moral absurdity of his and his leaders’ words and actions.  Such as those of his world head, Dr Michael Goldstein, of Covena, Southern California, USA. and Leonardo Gutter, Central Coordinator of the South American Sathya Sai Organizations. Priddy writes of Gutter’s public speech following 9/11. Gutter says:

 “Baba’s love encompasses all: There were 50,000 people working at the Towers and only 3,000 died; then Baba saved 47,000, not only devotees. Each person has his own karma: that was the destiny of those who died there.”

Priddy comments:

“These wild conjectures by Dr. Goldstein and Leonardo Gutter would be hard to surpass in bad taste, not to mention indoctrinated delusion that Sathya Sai Baba is God Almighty incarnate on earth, plus Jesus come again – but also the Father who sent Jesus!

Note too that Sathya Sai Baba and his various minions recently enthused in public  about his visit to his great devotee in Kampala, despot and gruesome killer, Idi Amin (Dictator Idi Amin – Sai Baba’s warm recollections)”.

Sathya Sai Baba and His ‘Demons’

There are many testimonies against the conduct of Sathya Sai Baba. They frequently come from sources far remote from each other. Sometimes, indeed, the reports come from within other spiritual organizations where their members report having come to grief at the hands of Sathya Sai Baba. See my previous post:

Sathya Sai devotees have yet to explain, after all these years, why they think many men and women who have lived lifetimes of decency and good repute in their professions, trades and wider communities should on the spur of the moment change into demons (as he has called his dissenters).

They have also to explain why they would turn a blind eye to the incessant attacks on and off the internet on many individuals whom they, or fellow devotees, loved and honored over decades.

Timothy Conway, Ph.D., was a Sathya Sai Baba follower for 22 years. Until his extensive enquiries regarding the sexual abuse,  and other types of abuse, allegations against Sathya Sai Baba, led him to resign, he was President of the Sathya Sai Baba Center of San Francisco from 1982-4 and was on the US national coordinating body. He wrote and posted the following:

“We now have trustworthy reports from over two dozen credible eye-witnesses (and sworn affidavits from many of them) indicating that probably hundreds of young men and boys have been molested (far beyond “touching the perineum”) and/or forced to perform oral sex and masturbation on Baba over the last 30 years or more. Baba has masturbated them and sometimes performed oral sex on them, sometimes to the point of ejaculation.

Baba has threatened to deny interviews to many of the boys’ parents if the boys resist his sexual predatory behavior. He has paid or bribed most of these male youth for sexual favors and for their silence with money, rings, watches, etc.– up to $10,000 for one boy (an American youth well known to several former members of our Santa Barbara Sai Center). Baba has also evidently gotten angry at and berated those male youth who try to resist his molestations or who fail to become aroused when Baba is molesting them. He verbally manipulates and coerces them to engage in sex with him.

It’s clear that Baba is not “detachedly” “raising the kundalini” or “healing old sexual karma” of these male youth. (If this were the true reason, why is he denying young women and girls, older men and non-preferred younger men this “healing touch”?) Rather, Baba appears to be caught up in terrible lust and attachment: eyewitnesses describe him making “moaning” and “gurgling” sounds, thrusting his pelvis and erect organ toward the boys and young men, grabbing them when they try to move away, trying to persuade them how “lucky” they are to be having this “great opportunity.” See full letter

Sathya Sai Baba Sex Abuse Allegations: A Typical ‘Iceberg Tip’ Testimony

I invite my reader to click across to Robert Priddy’s blogsite and read the short piece he has just blogged. These quoted emails are but an iceberg tip of testimony that we have encountered. I am confident that most readers would not feel up to processing many of the appalling abuse revelations that we have seen.

As international co-ordinators on behalf of a wide former Sathya Sai Baba follower group, Robert Priddy and I have gone to great lengths to ensure that no security is breached in those many confidential reports which we have received. In reporting student or ex-student or other experiences, we carefully release only what has been carefully vetted. We err on the side of great caution. In some cases, even the slightest hints of time, place or occasion could give up information enough for Sathya Sai Baba officials to unravel jigsaw puzzle-like bits and pieces and create untold harm for individuals and families, some of whom have close association with the Sathya Sai Organization to this day. Indeed, some family members are dependent on Sai Baba’s largesse. 

‘Form Boys’ (Sathya Sai Institution Boys Deemed His His Homosexual Favourites)

Over the decade and a half of our exposure of Sathya Sai Baba, we have many times heard the term “form boys”  from among Sai Baba’s students, and ex-students. They use the phrase to refer to Sai Baba’s secret homosexual lovers among the boys in his institutions.  Quote from the post, below:
